Hair Professional Apprenticeship Standard Level 2
As an apprentice Hair Professional will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. Hair Professionals must be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair. They also need to be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with their role and be able to work without supervision to a high level of precision, with exceptional client care skills.
20% of-the-job requirements.
Off-the-job training is defined as learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment, forms part of their working week and leads towards the achievement of an apprenticeship. This can include training that is delivered at the apprentices normal place of work but must not be delivered as part of their normal working duties. Examples of off-the-job training could include the following:
The teaching of theory (college attendance)
Practical training (including college attendance)
Learning support and time spent writing assessments/assignments.
Off-the-job training does not include:
English and Maths
Progress reviews or on-programme assessment required for an apprenticeship standard
Training which takes place outside the apprentices paid working hours. If training must take place, by exception, outside of these hours, it is expected that this is recognised (for example through time off in lieu).
