The aim of this programme is to equip new or existing staff with the skills and confidence to operate at a high level within a polymer processing environment.
Apprentices will learn about how the health and safety requirements within the sector; the engineering principles involved in processing polymers; how materials behave whilst being processed; the quality and management systems used; and how to use communication and people skills effectively in their working environment.
The Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard consists of four main elements:
Level 3 Diploma in Polymer Processing
Vocational Skills Development
IOSH Working Safely
English & maths Level 2
The Diploma in Polymer Processing has several pathways to choose from, making it applicable to a range of processing environments:
A - Polymer Extrusion
B - Polymer Injection Moulding
C - Polymer Preform Blow Moulding
D - Polymer Parison Blow Moulding
E - Polymer Processing of Thermoplastics
F - Polymer Thermoforming
We utilise the equipment and materials within the apprentices place of work so that the programme is specific to their manufacturing environment and products. Regular update meetings will take place to ensure that the content continues to be in line with business needs.
