Team Leader or Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard Level 3

A team leader/supervisor is a first line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Roles/Occupations may include: Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager.

  • Entry Requirements

    The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

    You will be interviewed and assessed to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the Apprenticeship, based upon the range and level of activities you will be undertaking in the workplace.

    You may need to undergo an initial assessment of your Maths and English to show your ability to undertake study towards level 2 Maths and English.

    At the start of your apprenticeship programme you will need to be employed by a suitable andappropriate employer for at least 30 hours per week, including any off-the-job training you undertake. Where a part-time working pattern is undertaken, joint agreement may be made between with the employer and the apprentice for an extended apprenticeship duration. You will also need to have been a resident in the EU for at least 3 years and not be on any other government funded training programme.

    How many hours / days per week is this course?

    Attendance may be required at college for theory workshops and also if Functional Skills qualifications are required then additional college attendance at various campuses on various dates throughout the year.

    What qualification will I achieve?

    Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

    How is my course assessed?

    There will be on programme assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviour outcomes, whilst working towards End Point Assessment.

    The apprentice will then be assessed to the Apprenticeship Standard using four complementary assessment methods to take a view of their overall performance in their job. The End Assessment Process will consist of:

    *Assessment of knowledge through a test using scenarios, questions and responses

    *Assessment of competency through competency based interview

    *Assessment of portfolio of evidence

    *CPD Log reviewed and professional discussion, question and answer session.

    The End Point Assessment process will be carried out by an independent and impartial Assessor.
