Animal Management - Level 3 - Part-time

This qualification has been developed with progressing into working in the industry in mind. It develops practical skills, promotes sound work practices and provides essential industry knowledge to help you progress into higher levels of learning or employment.

Following the qualification, you'll have an understanding how to promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals, including identifying abnormal signs, monitoring and maintaining accurate records.

What will I study?

-Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals -Plan the handling and restraint of animals -Monitor an devaluate the accommodation of animals -Plan diets and feeding regimes for animals -Plan the establishment and management of wild animal populations -Recognize and interpret the behaviour of animals -Design individual training programmes for animals -Expectations Learners completing this course will need to complete a number of individual study hours on their course work each week, due to the course being portfolio based.

In order to achieve this qualification attendance and organisation is important.

You will need:

• A relevant level 2 diploma or certificate in Animal Care

OR

• Relevant GCSEs (e.g. English and Maths) at grade 4 and above

At our Cambridge Campus, this course runs each Friday 9:00am - 4:15pm. At our Wisbech Campus, this course runs each Tuesday 9:00am - 4:15pm.

Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan

If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.

How is my course assessed?

Your course will be assessed through theory and practical sessions and assignments / assessments. You will build a portfolio of evidence throughout the year.
