Functional Skills in Computing & IT - Part-Time

Our Functional Skills in ICT courses are designed to equip you with the skills to operate computers and IT confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and every day life. Whether you are using a computer for the first time or hoping to broaden your skillset to progress onto one of our other, more technical computing courses - this is the course for you.

  • Course Description

    Offered at both our King's Lynn and Wisbech campuses, these courses will develop your skills in IT and demonstrate the benefits of computing in a real-life context.

    We offer functional skills computing courses from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 and you will be assessed during the first session to determine the best programme for you.

    Units may include:

    • Interact with ICT for a purpose
    • Follow recommended safe practices
    • Use ICT-based sources of information
    • Find specified information from ICT-based sources
    • Enter and edit information for a simple given purposes
    • Use ICT-based communication
  • Entry Requirements

    You will have an assessment during the first session to determine suitability.

    This course will run for 15 weeks from 6pm - 8pm each Tuesday.

    Fee information

    If you are unemployed and claim an income-based state benefit or have a sole income of less than £17,004, you will be eligible for a full reduction in course fee - this course will be FREE! For more information and to confirm eligibility, please click here to complete our fee calculator.

    Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan

    If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.

    An Edexcel qualification in Functional Skills Information and Community Technology at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2

Jake Mattless

Computing - Level 3

Jake sucessfully completed level 2 in IT prior to commencing level 3 in Computing. In addition, he scored 100% in his Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) qualification to secure a place in MOS Four Nations Championship Final 2019.
