Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship Standard Level 3

Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers need to maximise the benefits of technology. Depending on the type of product and plant in the company, engineering activities carried out will include routine maintenance, fault finding and diagnosis. testing and commissioning. They must ensure that maintenance activities contribute to optimising food and drink production levels.

The Apprenticeship will cover a range of core knowledge including legislation and regulations, core skills including to plan and prepare for maintenance of engineered systems and behaviours, including safe working to name but a few

    Set by the employer. Candidates will usually have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 (or equivalent), including Maths, English and a Science.

    Applicants will need to meet with with an Apprenticeship Advisor prior to starting on the programme.

    3 days year 1, 2 day release in year 2 and 1 day release in year 3. 4th year is revision preparation for end point assessment

    What qualification will I achieve?

    Apprentices are required to complete a City & Guilds (Multi Skilled pathway) Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Engineering Maintenance prior to taking the end-point assessment for this apprenticeship and will cover the required knowledge, skills and behaviours as the standard dictates.

    How is my course assessed?

    The end-point assessment should take place at either the workplace or at recognised EPA site. The assessment will include three distinct components:

    A written knowledge test answered through a combination of multiple choice questions and extended answer questions

    Practical tests made up of work-based observations and a work-based and job-related workplace project.

    A professional dialogue and interview, which is undertaken after all other end-point assessment components have been successfully completed.

    To achieve final certification, the apprentice must have completed and achieved a minimum of a pass in each end-point assessment component.

Bradley achieved Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair to a very high standard, prior to starting Level 3.
