Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard Level 3

The apprentice will maintain the safety, integrity and effective operation of plant and equipment. The Technicians will undertake installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance and repair of a range of equipment, sometimes complex, as part of planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.

The apprentice will demonstrate skills and knowledge of the following to be able to meet the end point assessment criteria, as detailed in the assessment plan:

    5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths at grade 5 or above, English and a science


    A level 2 engineering qualification with maths and English at level 2

    What qualification will I achieve?

    No vocational qualifications required, but college delivery can include EAL Diploma in Engineering.

    Level 2 in English and maths (a pre-requisite for entry on to the apprenticeship)

    How is my course assessed?

    The end-point assessment has three distinct components:

    Knowledge assessment (weighting 20%).

    A final observation of practical work (weighting 40%)

    A technical interview, based upon an evidence portfolio which will include all evidence of practical observations, progress reviews and work activities (weighting 40%)

Motor Vehicle Service and Repair - Level 3

Bradley achieved Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair to a very high standard, prior to starting Level 3.

Bradley said “I’ve been given the opportunity to do work experience along with my tutors as their TSO, helping other students and looking after the workshop as it gives me a diverse view on a different, but vital, area of the motor industry.”
