  • Course Description

    Course content includes:

    • The art of colouring hair
    • The art of dressing hair
    • Body and face painting
    • Working in the make up industry
    • Anatomy and physiology
    • Research, develop and showcase designs
    • Hair artistry
    • Creative makeup artistry
    • Health and safety
    • The art of applying makeup
    • Photographic makeup including Vintage
    • Plaiting and twisting
    • Create an image-based theme
  • Entry Requirements

    You will need:

    • 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or above, preferably including English and a creative based subject.


    • A level 1 qualification in hairdressing and/or beauty therapy


    • A Level 2 Principal Learning Diploma

    Applications from mature students without formal qualifications are welcomed provided they demonstrate sufficient interest in the subject.

    You will be required to successfully pass an interview with a demonstration of enthusiasm and commitment towards the subject area and bring examples of craft and art work.

    Individual cases will be considered on their own merits

    How many hours / days per week is this course?

    Full-time courses at the college are generally 3-4 days per week (you may be in an extra day if you are resitting English and/or Maths). All students are expected to complete study hours in the Learning Resource Centre and at least 30 hours work experience on top of their college hours.

    Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan

    If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
