  • Course Description

The course, which we offer in the evening and during afternoon, is very person-centred, and experiential learning (using personal experience to learn from) is a large part of the sessions.

Group discussions and skills practice will be combined with theoretical input by the tutor, and reinforced by modest homework assignments of reading and the keeping of a journal.

You are encouraged to evaluate your own learning and progress so they can indicate your future training, educational and personal needs. You can expect challenge, support and encouragement.

As a result of the course you should be able to:

    • Identify and name the core conditions of person centred counselling
    • Practise basic active listening skills based on the core conditions
    • Identify those situations where counselling is and is not appropriate
    • Relate the course learning to your personal and professional development and determine what further steps you might take in relation to your further education and development.
