Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer - Apprenticeship - Level 3

Depending on the type of product and plant in the company, engineering activities carried out will include:

• Routine maintenance
• Fault finding and diagnosis
• Testing and commissioning

You must ensure that maintenance activities contribute to optimising food and drink production levels.

The Apprenticeship will cover a range of core knowledge including:

• Legislation and regulations
• Core skills including to plan and prepare for maintenance of engineered systems and behaviours including safe working etc.

You will need:

• A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 (or equivalent), including Maths, English and a Science.

How many hours / days per week is this course?

3 days year 1, 2 day release in year 2 and 1 day release in year 3. 4th year is revision preparation for end point assessment

What qualification will I achieve?

• City & Guilds (Multi Skilled pathway) Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Engineering Maintenance

How is my course assessed?

The end-point assessment should take place at either the workplace or at recognised EPA site. The assessment will include three distinct components:

• A written knowledge test answered through a combination of multiple choice questions and extended answer questions

• Practical tests made up of work-based observations and a work-based and job-related workplace project

• A professional dialogue and interview, which is undertaken after all other end-point assessment components have been successfully completed.

• To achieve final certification, you must have completed and achieved a minimum of a pass in each end-point assessment component.
