Adults Employers Part-TimeBeing able to use a computer is generally an essential skill for most workplaces. Our Essential Digital Skills for Work course from the Gateway is designed to help prepare you for the digital aspects of work.
We offer two levels on this course:
This qualification is designed for adults with no or little prior experience of using digital devices or internet.
This qualification is designed for adults with some experience of using digital devices and the internet but lacking general skills.
The BCS qualifications cover all five skills areas set out in the national standards. These are:

Please note that this course will only be fully funded (free) if your digital skills are assessed at a level 1 or lower standard. You will have an assessment on the first day of the course to determine your eligibility.
You will also be fully funded if you are unemployed and claiming for a state benefit.
If you do not meet any of the above criteria, the course fee is £150.
Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
BCS Entry Level / Level 1 in Essential Digital Skills for Work
Both qualifications are assessed through two online, on-screen invigilated tests.
One test will focus on knowledge (with a range of question types including multiple choice, hotspot, drag and drop, ordering and matching). The second test will focus on skills (with question types including hotspots, advanced hotspots and the BCS in-application assessment engine).
