Introduction to Early Years Settings - Level 1 - Part-Time

This course will give you a basic knowledge of childcare in early year settings. This includes the value of play, roles and responsibilities of carers and volunteers and the importance of developing links in the local community that could enhance children's learning and development. It covers working with children up to the age of 5 years old.

  • Course Description

    If you are a parent, volunteer or member of staff wishing to get involved in an early year environment (e.g. pre-school, nursery), this will be the course for you.

    Units may include:

    • The value of play for babies and young children
    • Management and organisation in an early years setting
    • Introduction to community development in early years settings
    • Roles and responsibilities in an early years setting

    Fee information

    The full cost of this course is £150.. This course is eligible for our low income and unemployment waivers.

  • Entry Requirements

    Whilst there are no official entry requirements for this course, you should be able to demonstrate an interest in working with children.

  • Course Length

    This course will run each Thursday from 6pm - 9pm.

    • NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award in an Introduction to Early Years Settings

    How is my course assessed?

    You will have to provide evidence to demonstrate that you have an understanding of each unit to complete the course. This may include written assignments, observations or discussions.
