  • How do I enrol?

    Enrolment will take place on Tuesday 17th September during your first day.

  • What do I need to bring in for enrolment?

    You will also need payment for your enrolment to RCVS which costs £190 and exam fees of £382. These will be payable during induction week.

  • Work experience

    Some of you may have already completed your required work experience in an animal environment and others may be completing before the start of the course. This should take place over four weeks, with a minimum of two weeks in a veterinary practice.

    If you have not done so already, on completion of your work experience, please ask your supervisor to fill in the Work Experience Feedback Form.

    Make a copy for yourself and then send us the form – this will show evidence of your work experience.

  • Placements

    Your first placement module will take place in the third trimester of your first year. Students are responsible for securing their clinical placement, although support is available through the university placement coordinator and it is advisable for you to forward a copy of your CV prior to induction.     You are welcome to suggest you own placement and if you have something provisionally lined up then please let Emma Robertson know on the above email address. Remember, the practice should be a registered RCVS approved training practice. This will all be covered at the start of your course in more detail and your tutors will guide you through the process.

  • Do I need to purchase anything before the start of the course?

    A veterinary nurse uniform is required to be purchased before the start of the course. This includes:

    • 2 x striped (green and white) veterinary nursing tunics
    • 2 x bottle green trousers
    • 1 x pair antistatic/antislip crocs (no holes) or black sensible leather shoes
    • 1x boiler suit (Navy blue)

    These items can be purchased at Vet-Direct or Alexandra.

  • Additional costs

    Enrolment with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) costs £190 and there is an additional cost towards exams of £382. Both of these costs are non-refundable and are payable during the first week of your course.
