Hair and Beauty students from the College of West Anglia (CWA) have earned an outstanding number of awards at this year’s Association of Hairdressers and Therapists competition; taking home a series of first, second and third place finishes across hair, beauty and make-up categories.
Held at West Suffolk College, the competition brought together learners from five other colleges and private academies, allowing CWA students to test their skills in a competitive setting and showcase their talent across a wide range of disciplines.
CWA students secured first place in categories including: Half Body Painting Theme: Banksy Inspired Street Art, Classic Feminine Bridal Hairstyling, Full Face Painting, Drag Total Look, Cyber Punk, Feminine High Fashion Finish, Feminine 60s Inspired Evening Style, Create An Image based on a theme: A Day at the Races, and Feminine Fashion Style on Textured Hair Type 4/3.
Learners from College of West Anglia’s KLA provision also enjoyed success in the Prom-Themed Make-Up category for 14- to 16-year-olds, taking first, second and third place.
Samantha Hall, Course Director for Level 1 Hairdressing at the College of West Anglia, said, “We are absolutely delighted with the results and so proud of every student who took part. The competition has highlighted not only their creativity and technical ability, but also the professionalism, focus and determination they brought to the day. It is fantastic to see their hard work recognised in such a strong field of competitors.”
This success means that College of West Anglia students will now look ahead to the national finals, which will be held on 11 May at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool.
The results mark another proud moment for the College’s hair, beauty and make-up provision reflecting the high standard of teaching, industry preparation and learner commitment across the department.
