From September 2026, learners aged 16-18 (or 19-24 with an active EHCP) who are enrolled on a full-time course at the College of West Anglia will be eligible for free meals if their parent, guardian or they themselves receive Universal Credit.

Applications for financial support are now open. Those who have applied to join the College in September can apply for financial support by visiting https://cwa.ac.uk/financialhelp. and following the on-screen instructions.

Lucas Cooper, Head of Admissions and Business Support, said:“We’re delighted that more learners will be able to benefit from a meal whilst studying at College. Our catering teams work hard to provide a range of nutritious and enjoyable meal options and we know this change will make a real difference for many families. We’ve opened applications for financial support earlier than ever before to help families plan ahead of September.”

Eligible learners receive £7.75 per day towards meals while attending one of the College's main campuses. This is typically split between breakfast (£3.75) and lunch (£4.00). The allowance is credited directly to the learner’s student ID card and can be used in College catering facilities. Alternative provisions will be available for eligible learners studying at the Downham Market centre.

Further information about financial support and full eligibility criteria is available at https://cwa.ac.uk/financialhelp.
