The College of West Anglia (CWA) has been hosting Anglian Water staff taking part in a Sustainability Bootcamp in its new Green Skills Building in Wisbech. The course is focused on developing low-carbon knowledge and a practical understanding of sustainable technologies.
The bootcamp, delivered by CWA’s specialist teaching team, gave Anglian Water employees the opportunity to explore the College’s state of the art facilities and took part in sessions covering renewable energy, energy efficiency and the future skills required to support the UK’s transition to a greener economy.
CWA’s Green Skills building has been developed as a regional hub for sustainability training, working in close partnership with employers to ensure that both students and industry professionals can access cutting-edge learning in environmental and low-carbon technologies.
Alex Mead, Green Skills Manager at the College of West Anglia, said: “Our sustainability bootcamp sits at the heart of the new Green Skills Academy and is designed to support learners at every stage, from complete beginners to those with existing knowledge. We’re already seeing strong engagement from the industry, with Anglian Water staff taking part in the programme. By covering topics such as the climate emergency, the circular economy and sustainable procurement, the bootcamp helps participants build practical knowledge and confidence to support a more sustainable future.”
Nick Fleming, Head of Skills External Engagement at Anglian Water, said: “Our staff thoroughly enjoyed the Sustainability Bootcamp at the new Green Skills Academy, where we've invested £2 million, alongside our alliance partners, to support skills development for local people in the Fens. It’s part of our ongoing work and decade-long strategic partnership with the College of West Anglia and will help local people access rewarding work that will benefit our region’s environment for years to come.”
The Sustainability Bootcamp highlights the ongoing collaboration between the College and Anglian Water, supporting workforce development and helping organisations build the skills needed to meet future environmental and sustainability challenges.
