I wanted to work rather than going into a full-time education and I found that an Apprenticeship was the best option for me. I found my apprenticeship on the CWA website with local employer AT Promotions also known as Listawood.
My role is as a Human Resource (HR) Assistant which involves me looking after staff’s wellbeing, welfare and mental health. As well as other roles such as recruitment, training and staff benefits. I do attend some workshops whilst at CWA, but my course is mainly work-based.
The benefits of doing an apprenticeship is that you get to learn and gain real life experiences at the same time. I didn’t want to go back to a classroom, I wanted to work and gain skills, doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to do this, as well as being paid a wage.
I enjoy coming to college, when needed as I get to meet other apprentices that are also on my course and we can support each other to complete the assignments and compare our experiences.
Moving forward, I hope to continue to develop and progress my skills in the work place. I think anyone should give an apprenticeship a go. Especially, if you are a more practical, hands on learner. The best thing about studying an apprenticeship is that I have gained the experience and qualifications needed to progress further in my career.
