Colette chose to study at UcWA as it offers face to face teaching and weekend sessions, which fitted in well with her schedule. She prefers face to face teaching over online, as it is more interactive and she also completed her Level 5 Certificate in Education with UcWA.
Colette said, “The main content of my course focuses on critical perspectives in education, including theories of learning, reflective practice, curriculum design and the relationship between policy and practice. I am particularly enjoying the opportunity to engage deeply with contemporary educational theory and to explore how these ideas connect directly to my own professional context.
One of the facets I find most engaging is the small cohort learning environment. The group size enables rich discussions, meaningful collaboration and a strong sense of academic community. I also really value the face‑to‑face delivery, which supports more dynamic interaction with lecturers and peers and creates a supportive space for reflective dialogue. Overall, the combination of relevant course content, interactive sessions and the close‑knit cohort has made the learning experience both highly enjoyable and professionally enriching.
The tutors are a particular strength of the programme. They are highly knowledgeable and consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning. Their approachable manner, timely support and ability to facilitate thought‑provoking discussion have significantly enhanced my engagement with the course. I appreciate the way they draw on both academic research and practical experience, creating sessions that are both rigorous and relevant to my professional development. Overall, the quality of both the facilities and the teaching team has been a key factor in my enjoyment of the course.”
Colette plans to contribute to educational journals and conduct research, following completion of her degree.
