Jessica studied Access to HE Diploma in Veterinary Science. She chose CWA as it was one of the few places that offered such a good opportunity and route into Veterinary School.
Whilst at CWA, Jessica’s main interest of study was Science, such as the respiratory system. She says, “I cannot emphasise enough how invaluable this was. During my first year at university there was a heavy focus on the science and animal systems. I have been able to utilise the content delivered at CWA to help me keep up with the content and use my knowledge and give me a good advantage to others that did have any science background.”
Once completing her course at CWA, Jessica moved her family up to North Yorkshire so she could continue her studies and enrolled at UClan University to study Veterinary Medicine. Jessica will always be grateful to CWA and adds, “I would not be at Veterinary school without CWA. It is incredibly competitive and a difficult path to go down. I found the majority of vet schools look at A – levels over Access to Higher Education courses, however, with this course being tailored to Veterinary Science it put me in a really good position and helped me secure offers during my university application process.”
Aswell as university, Jessica also has a part-time job milking at a diary farm. Veterinary medicine has introduced a different lifestyle to her and her family and in doing so she has realised her passion for the farming industry and will be looking into a farm veterinary route in the future.
Jessica wishes to thank her course tutors in giving unwavering support, advice and guidance. She says, “They recognised the students potential and continuously pushed us to achieve our best. I have very fond memories and it will always stay a very special place to me. Without CWA I would not be where I am now, a mature veterinary student!”
