PROJECT APOLLO

Apollo is a two-year funded project to recruit and retain people into roles in health or social care across Norfolk and Suffolk. Apollo is being led by East Coast College and the College of West Anglia is providing courses and support to those in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk who are interested in considering these careers.

We are working on four workstreams to support a wide variety of people:
Inspire – to reach out to students in years 9-13 to raise awareness of different careers, how to identify what is best for them and the route to follow. You will see the team at local schools.
Work and learn – to offer current college students the opportunity of enrichment to their chosen health and social care course, highlighting key skills with chances to practise in our state-of-the-art facilities, as well as securing part-time roles in health and social care during their course.
Care Start – working with people furthest from employment and supporting them into careers in health and social care, either in a paid or voluntary capacity by offering an entry level qualification at the college, to give people a taster of roles whilst working with key employers in the area.
Transition – supporting those in other careers to change and consider careers in health and social care. This could include unpaid family carers, those in the armed forces or volunteers amongst others.

There is something for everyone who is interested in a role in health or social care. If you want to find out more, please contact the team in the School of Nursing Studies to find out more about the courses we offer, career mentorship or roles and careers you may not previously have considered. The team has vast experience of work in health and social care and is keen to share this knowledge and inspire others down this path.
