Early Years Educator - Apprenticeship - Level 3

You can work in a range of settings including:

• Full day care
• Children's centres
• Preschool
• Reception classes
• Childminders

You will learn and be confident in working on your own or supervising others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by Government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old

You will need:

• GCSE grade 4 (or higher) in English language & maths

• You will be interviewed and assessed to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the Apprenticeship, based upon the range and level of activities you will be undertaking in the workplace.

• You may need to undergo an initial assessment of your Maths and English to show your ability to undertake study towards level 2 Maths and English.

• At the start of your apprenticeship programme you will need to be employed by a suitable and appropriate employer for at least 30 hours per week, including any off-the-job training you undertake. Where a part-time working pattern is undertaken, joint agreement may be made between with the employer and the apprentice for an extended apprenticeship duration.

How many hours / days per week is this course?

Attendance at a college campus may be necessary for Functional Skills assessments. You will also attend monthly workshops (this will be discussed in further detail at interivew)

What qualification will I achieve?

• Early Years Educator Standard for the Early Years workforce
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid

How is my course assessed?

• You will build an e-portfolio of evidence towards the diploma and will be assessed in the workplace using a range of methods, for example written assignments, case study work, reflective accounts and practical observation etc.

• An Assessor will visit you in the workplace on a regular basis in order to support you.

• Functional skills, if necessary, are assessed through examinations following taught sessions at a college location.

• During your apprenticeship you will produce a portfolio of good practice to support the end point assessment at the end of the apprenticeship. The end point assessment is carried out by an independent and impartial assessor and includes: Observation of practice Competence interview (based on your portfolio)
