General Farm Worker - Apprenticeship - Level 2
General Farm Workers work alongside their supervisors, supporting daily operations for the farm enterprises including identifying and maintaining animal or plant health performance, conducting routine tasks and assisting with general record keeping practices.
General Farm Workers manage the storage of forage and crop, minimising waste and disposing of necessary waste appropriately. Animal welfare and risk awareness and prevention are integral to this occupation.
In this occupation you will be responsible for:
Assisting with animal and plant health nutrition
Maintaining health and safety and biosecurity
Operating farm vehicles
Optimising the environmental impacts of animal and crop performance
In your daily role you may also interact with:
Internal farm team, eg reporting to a line manager
External stakeholders, including vets, farm advisor, contractors and other consultants to the business.
Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths. If you have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or a legacy statement, then the English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3
You will be interviewed and assessed to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the apprenticeship, based upon the range and level of activities you will be undertaking in the workplace.
You may be required to complete an initial assessment for English and maths to show ability to undertake study towards Level 2 English and maths.
