Mechatronics Maintenance Technician - Apprenticeship Level 3
Mechatronics maintenance technicians carry out a broad range of activities which may include installation, testing, fault finding, rectification, modifications and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.

Course Description
This occupation is found in the aerospace, aviation, automotive, defence, logistics, pharmaceutical, energy, food and drink, and wider advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors which utilise automated equipment with integrated systems and interfaces, where the equipment contains a blend of technologies such as mechanical, electrical, electronic and control, and fluid power.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate targets regarding safety, quality, delivery, availability and cost within the aerospace, aviation, automotive, logistics, defence and wider advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors. Multi-skilled mechatronics maintenance technicians carry out a broad range of activities which may include installation, testing, fault finding, rectification, modifications and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.

Entry Requirements
You will need:
- A suitable employer who is available to start you as an apprentice
- 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths, English and a science or;
- A relevant level 2 engineering qualification (such as our Engineering - Level 2 course) and a level 2 (or GCSEs at grade 4 or above) in functional skills in English and maths.

Additional Information
What qualification will I achieve?
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development within a protected environment all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
How is my course assessed?
Observation with questions
You will be observed by an independent assessor completing your work. It will last at least 3 hours. They will ask you at least 4 questions.
Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
You will have an interview with an independent assessor. It will last at least 60 minutes. They will ask you at least 8 questions. The questions will be about certain aspects of your occupation. You need to compile a portfolio of evidence before the EPA gateway. You can use it to help answer the questions.
