As a warehouse operative apprentice you will gain the skills for the safe handling of goods and the accuracy of putting stock away in the correct locations and the accuracy of picking products in accordance with the orders received. This may include the packing of goods and ensuring the product is not damaged. In a small operation you may be responsible for the whole process of incoming goods, storage and outgoing orders.
Operational activities may include:
- applying safe working practices, including risk assessments
- using tools and equipment to aid in product handling
- loading and unloading products
- handover activities
- use of organisational product management systems
- communication
- team work
You will attend college for one day per month with regular onsite visits by your tutor to support your progress and development.
