Adults Employers Training for WorkThis popular course was developed by the College of West Anglia (CWA) in conjunction with City & Guilds for local industry. The course provides successful candidates with a certificate of achievement in this City & Guilds Assured course, and a level of attainment which is nationally recognised and respected by employers.
The course is of a practical nature with only essential related theory being included. The course is aimed at mechanical engineers/fitters or electrical engineers who require a fundamental understanding of industrial electrical systems and will give them the necessary skills to carry out first line electrical maintenance in a safe and competent manner.
The course includes a wide range of topics all being dealt with in a hands-on way with safety as an underlying theme. Topics include:

You will receive a certificate of achievement in Industrial Electrical Maintenance Skills (IEMS) Assured by City & Guilds.
This course is delivered at our King's Lynn campus over 30 days. The days are split into six 5 day blocks. Each candidate has to successfully complete five practical competence tasks, as listed, together with obtaining 80% or above in the final knowledge assessment. Task 1 Procedures in the event of electric shock Task 2 Safe Isolation of 3-phase equipment Task 3 Breakdown maintenance Task 4 Direct on-line reversing circuit Task 5 Fault diagnosis incorporating safe isolation of 3-phase control panel Candidates are expected to complete a log book to support their understanding of the outcomes of the assessment tasks.
