NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety - DISTANCE LEARNING
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is a nationally recognised qualification and is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK.
Holders of the Certificate are entitled to Associate Membership AIOSH of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health IOSH.
The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership Tech IOSH of IOSH and Associate Membership AIIRSM of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management IIRSM.
The course is split into 2 units of study, each of which is assessed separately:
Unit NG1 - Management of Health and Safety covering: Why we should manage workplace health and safety; How health and safety management systems work and what they look like; Managing risk - understanding people and processes; Health and safety monitoring and measuring.
Unit NG2 - Risk Assessments covering: Physical and psychological health; Musculoskeletal health; Chemical and biological agents, General workplace issues; Work equipment, Fire and Electricity.
This course is aimed at managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues. Undertaking the certificate helps them to manage risks effectively. There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

How is my course assessed?
Unit NG1 takes the form of a written examination and Unit NG2 practical written assessment.
The examinations for this course are set by NEBOSH and occur at the beginning of March, June, September and December each year. We would expect you to enter for the examination dates that take place within about 6 months of enrolment, depending on when in the cycle the enrolment takes place.
