The award in retail knowledge is a foundational, beginner level qualification designed for individuals working in or aiming to enter the retail sector. It focuses on key practical skills such as customer service, sales, stock control, health and safety and team working. This qualification aims to help learners to progress into paid employment, an apprenticeship or onto further study.

This qualification can be complimented with paid or voluntary industry experience to enhance your learning.

Course Description
There are 4 units for the Award (7 credits).
- Unit 1: Understanding the business of retail
- Unit 2: Understanding customer service in the retail sector
- Unit 3: Understanding how a retail business maintains health, safety and security on the premises
- Unit 4: Understanding how individuals and team contribute to the effectiveness of a retail business
Entry Requirements

You must be 19+ years old at the start of the academic year (31st August 2025) to access this course.

There are no prior qualifications or experience needed to commence this qualification however you will need to have a good comprehension of English in verbal and written form.

A paid or voluntary work experience role in the retail sector is advantageous to enhance your learning experience.
