Dog Grooming - Level 3 (Diploma) - Part-time

This programme is designed to provide you with a sound knowledge and skills of all aspects of dog grooming. You will learn various breed standards and variations, including scissoring, handstripping and clipping techniques. This course will also include first aid and customer care

  • Course Description

    The programme content includes:

    • Assess and plan dog grooming work
    • Carry out styling and finishing of dogs
    • Plan the handling and restraint of animals
    • Supervise and control the movement of animals
    • Plan the accommodation of animals
    • Recognise and interpret the behaviour of animals
    • Promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals

    What day will the course be running?

    • This course will run on a Thursday each week
  • Entry Requirements

    You will need:

    • A level 2 dog grooming qualification

    You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.

    This course will run from 9am - 4:30pm each Thursday

    16-18 Free*
    19+ £3,400

    * Certain courses may have additional costs to cover trips or DBS checks, and for some courses you will be expected to purchase additional items such as uniform or equipment.

    Fee information

    Though this course is free for those aged 16-18, there may be additional fees related to the programme, such as additional equipment or uniform, trips, DBS checks and work placement costs. Further information will be sent to all applicants before enrolment.

    Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan

    If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.

    How is my course assessed?

    Assessment is continuous throughout the programme. Each unit is assessed by a variety of methods including assignments, practicals, tests and a portfolio of evidence.
