ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages - Part-Time

This course is designed to help improve your English language skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening in a variety of contexts. It is for learners aged 19 and over.

  • Course Description

    Better English will:

    • Give you the language and study skills you need to progress to a vocational course, A-levels, access course or university degree

    • Improve your skills and confidence at home and work

    • Help you to apply for jobs

    • Help you work in a team

    • Help you to learn about life in the UK

    • Give you the skills to gain a nationally recognised qualification in language

    We also offer a full-time equivalent of the ESOL course for students aged 16-18 year-olds starting each September.

  • Entry Requirements

    Whilst there are no entry requirements, you will complete an assessment prior to starting your course to determine the appropriate level for you.

    Courses are generally offered on Tuesday and Thursday evening but we may also have sessions in the day (subject to interest)

    Fee information

    Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan

    If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
