Adults Part-TimeOur English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course is designed to help you to develop your knowledge and gain confidence in your speaking, listening, reading and writing of the English language.
This course is for learners aged 19 and over. We also offer a full-time version for 16-18 year olds!
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course will help you to develop your knowledge and gain confidence in your speaking, listening, reading and writing of the English language.
You will develop and improve your English grammar and vocabulary.
You will cover a wide range of topics such as: working and living in the UK, education, health, history, the environment, housing, travelling, the law, social development, personal development, finance and more!
You will have the opportunity to make friends in these multi-cultural classes, learn about the British way of life and the variety of cultures in the UK.
You will have the opportunity to gain an ESOL Skills for Life qualification in reading, speaking & listening and writing.
You will get personal feedback from our expert ESOL staff.
You will strengthen your speaking and listening skills to help you successfully navigate daily life in the UK, using real life scenarios like applying for a job.
Whilst there are no entry requirements, you will complete an assessment prior to starting your course to determine the appropriate level for you.
You must be eligible to study in the UK to start this course (i.e. you have lived in the UK for the last three years or have settled / pre-settled status and have lived in the EEA / UK for the previous three years. We will ask you for further details on receipt of your application. If you are unsure, please contact our admissions team on 01553 815449.
We also take new students on in January and April for the part-time ESOL courses. These courses will run at the same time on the same evening as the above but during the week commencing 5th January 2026 and 13th April 2026, respectively.

Kings Lynn: For EL1 + EL2 Courses will be held on Tuesdays 17:00pm-20:00pm. For EL3, L1, and L2 courses will be held on Thursdays 17:00pm-20:00pm. Wisbech: For EL1 + EL2 courses will be held on Mondays 17:30pm-20:30pm. For EL3, L1, and L2 courses will be held on Wednesdays 17:30pm-20:30pm

Our ESOL courses are split into three different units; reading, writing and speaking. For most students, each unit costs a reduced rate of 100, but depending on your circumstances you may be able to receive the course for free.
Your course will be free if you have lived in the UK for the last three years and:
If you haven't lived in the UK for the last three years, our admissions team will complete a fee assessment against specific criteria to determine if you are eligible for free or a reduced-rate courses. If you don't meet the criteria, each unit will cost 300.
Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
