Adults Part-TimeThis two year, NCPS recognised qualification will give you the skills and competencies required to work as a therapeutic counsellor. This course covers key areas like ethical practice, diversity, counselling theory and relationship-building.
Throughout the course, you'll be working on achieving the following 7 mandatory units:
You'll also complete 100 hours of counselling (one-to-one) with at least 5 different clients in an agency setting. You also will complete your own supervision.
Successful completion of this qualification means that you'll be able to provide a therapeutic counselling service - initially within the context of an agency's service framework but later you may progress to independent practice (with experience and support from your supervisor).
This course is only available for adults aged 19 or above.

The timetable for this course is still being confirmed but is expected to run in the evening on a Monday and / or Wednesday.
Successful students can work as a therapeutic counsellor in both healthcare and non-medical agencies, including roles across a variety of sectors, including the NHS, education, mental health services, addiction recovery, social care and community-based organisations.

Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
Assessment is carried out on a module-by-module basis and may include tutor and peer feedback, reflective learning reviews, essays, presentations, and case studies. You will also complete an external assessment, which involves a review of a recorded counselling practice session.
