A local electrical business is training up a workforce of the future, revelling in the success of working with young apprentices from the College of West Anglia. CWA Wisbech has worked with Rollins Electrical for the past seven years. This year, the technology department is working with six Rollins’ apprentices, four of whom gained employment with the company through work experience undertaken as part of their full time course at CWA. The apprentices attend college one day a week as part of their route to becoming fully-qualified electricians. It is uncommon for one business to host so many apprentices at one time but CWA technology programme manager Alan Seeley says this shows the company is forward-thinking and community-conscious. He said: “The valuable relationship between CWA and Rollins has helped the company to make sure their workforce has the skills and behaviours to help move their business forward. Our aim is to prepare our students for a meaningful and productive career, in whatever trade they choose. Working closely with businesses like Rollins Electrical is essential in doing this and enables us to meet the needs of local industry.” David Rollins, the proprietor of Rollins Electrical, has some 40 years of experience in the Electrical Industry and has many years of experience in employing staff. He said: “At Rollins Electrical we find it rewarding to employ electrical apprentices as they are the future of the electrical industry and we are proud to say that we have started them on their chosen career path.  The apprentices we have this year have made up a fifth of our workforce and are an asset to our company and the college.”
