Engineers eye up Army careers!
Engineering students at the College of West Anglia have benefited from a careers talk from servicemen based at the Army recruitment office in Norwich, who informed the group of budding tradesmen that “the Army isn’t just for uniformed service students”.
Learners were shown how they can take their CWA qualifications and build on them with apprenticeships in the Army. HM Forces is not the customary progression of an engineering student but Sargent Andrew Yorke VR says there is no reason why it shouldn’t be.
He said: “I love talking to young people about the Army; the perks, the benefits and how they can better themselves. There are so many educational and extra-curricular benefits that they can have if they chose a career in the armed forces and the specialisms are endless.”
Engineering student Tyler Reed said: “This talk has really opened my eyes to the different career paths available and how I can use my skills to create a really positive career for myself in the Army. I had thought about it before but now I think that it really is possible and will be something I follow through with.”
