The College of West Anglia was pleased to host Lucy, the renowned travel blogger behind the popular platform Absolutely Lucy, who visited the King’s Lynn campus to inspire Travel and Tourism students by sharing her journey and career as a travel influencer. With a passion for adventure and storytelling, Lucy has built a successful career by documenting her travels around the globe and creating engaging content that resonates with audiences worldwide.
During her talk, Lucy gave an insight into what it is like to work as a full-time travel blogger. She also shared stories from her firsthand experiences, highlighting both the exciting opportunities and challenges that come with being a digital nomad in the competitive world of social media.
This session gave students a unique opportunity to hear about the dynamic and evolving travel industry and how they can pursue their dreams of a career in travel.
Lucy said, ”I love talking to young people about travel and feeling like I can inspire them to explore the world. As a travel blogger this is a career that didn’t even exist when I was studying. It’s fantastic to be here to inspire students, to demonstrate to them that there are careers out there that they might not have considered yet”.
Nicola Leadley, Course Director, explained, “The tourism industry is very diverse and having access to a range of guest speakers from tourism backgrounds gives our students an opportunity to build on the knowledge they gain in class and supports them with assessments. However, one of the greatest benefits is that they get to explore different career pathways, perhaps ones that they have not considered before, enabling them to build connections with local employers and increase their employability”.
