April studies Animal Care Level 1 and chose this course as she would love to work with animals. She said, “I enjoy the practical side of the course, as I love being with the animals. Tyrone and Dolly, the sheep are my favourites. The most interesting animals that I work with are the ferrets, they are always busy and mischievous.”

Prior to Animal Care, April studied Bridge to Education Entry Level 3.

April has also taken part in the WorldSkills competition in the Horticulture Foundation Skills category. April said “I was extremely nervous all the way through the competition. I enjoyed the planning and practical stages the most. WorldSkills has also benefitted my confidence, as this has increased a lot. I was very shocked and proud of myself when I got my silver medal.”
