Lacey is currently taking a Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship, after successfully completing Level 2 Engineering course at CWA.. Lacey said, “I wanted to move forward in my career and learning, and I felt that an apprenticeship would open new doors for me, as well as let me gain experience from other engineers in the workplace.”
Lacey’s apprenticeship involves a mixture of theory and practical work. Every work day is different from the next and completely hands-on in an industrial setting. Her time at college involves spending time working on a lathe, as well as practising her hand fitting skills, moving on to hydraulic and pneumatic systems and maintenance. Lacey enjoys college and says it gives her the opportunity to learn from your mistakes, without the pressure of perfecting your work first time.
Lacey said, “The best thing about an apprenticeship is the industry experience, and the access to the newer technology supplied by the college.”
