If you’re interested in photography and learning the basics of darkroom and how to process your own images, this is the course for you.

Darkrooms have been used since the early 19th century to process photographs from film. A darkroom is used to process photographic film to make prints. The room is dark to allow the processing of light sensitive photography materials, including film and photographic paper.

The course will cover the basics of darkroom photography. You will be introduced to the use of enlargers and chemicals by producing Photograms. You will also work through the full process of loading, shooting, developing and printing black and white film. Towards the end of the course there will be opportunity to print some of your own negatives and explore more advanced techniques such as dodging and burning. You may wish to bring your own film camera however we have plenty you can use during the evenings.

The course fee includes two rolls of 24 shot film and 15 sheets of 8”x 10” pearl paper.  Additional film and paper can be purchased from the college.

This course will run each Tuesday from 6.30pm – 8.30pm for 8 weeks starting 04th March 2024.
