Our new short introductory course in carpentry will give you the skills required to start (or finish!) some of your own DIY projects at home.

This short course will cover everything you need to finally tackle those DIY projects you've been putting off over the winter. 

The course will run at our Wisbech campus and starts on Wednesday 8th January 2025. It will run from 6pm - 8pm for 6 weeks.

At the start of the course, you'll learn about the tools (including power tools and how to use them, general health and safety, different types of timber and what jobs they're suitable for around the house.

After that, you'll learn the skills required to do carpentry DIY jobs around the house, for example changing a door knob, putting up a shelf or refitting a door.

You'll also have the opportunity to use our tools to work on a personal project.

What will I need for this course?

  • Steel toe cap boots (we should be able to lend these to you, you'll be able to choose your size when you sign up
  • Safety glasses (loaned from the college)
