Campus hosts new dressage sensation event
The Cambridge campus of the College of West Anglia hosted the first regional heat of the new Team Quest dressage event on Saturday and scooped the board itself with its four teams.
And there was another accolade as the British Dressage sent their grading and fixtures officer from its headquarters team who was "really pleased" with the lovely atmosphere at the event and how well it ran at the Milton campus.
The individual winners were Jenny Brandham, equine programme manager, in the novice, Nicki Skipp, equine staff in the preliminary and Joseph Barber (aged 11) in the walk and trot test with 72.5 per cent and the highest score of the day.
Other great successes were Vanessa Hardy returning to ride after breaking her back at the end of August, and Jade Rouchy returning to compete after fracturing her collar bone and then having it re-broken in October to help it heal!
The winning open team were current or ex-students, the winning 16 year and under team were members of the Suffolk Hunt Pony Club
Team Quest is described as the most exciting announcement for generations to hit the sport of dressage in Great Britain.
The campus at Milton has been chosen for three regional heats with competitors in the Under 16, Under 25 and open categories.
Teams of three or four riders ride as individuals across the three test levels (any combination) and the best three scores count towards an overall team total, highest percentage wins the day.
Teams will need to be registered with British Dressage before competing. The scores will be combined to give a team mark and teams will then be placed by this. There will be a national championship and teams qualify for this by competing at their local venues.
Cambridgeshire Horse Sport Academy at Milton is running three Team Quest competitions this year, with two more in May and July.
