DSCF0093 The Cambridge campus is asking for support from staff and students at King’s Lynn and Isle as it sets out to raise even more money for Children In Need this year. You can ride a horse simulator, pay to have the music of your choice for a half-hour ride, bring your own fancy dress too. The zany fun and fundraiser netted some £3,500 in 2013, mostly by using their simulated horse which they named Frankel, after the modern-day unbeaten racing legend. And now staff are again bringing Frankel out of retirement with an unusual challenge for him and his supporters to beat the amount raised with another simulated horse, called Milton after the campus on the outskirts of Cambridge. Staff backing Milton will have 24 hours for sponsors to ride half-hour slots, to music of their choice. But Frankel will only have 12 hours to pull in the funds as he’s taken to sites off-campus to attract attention during Children In Need days on Thursday and Friday, November 14/15. Once again it will mean college staff riding throughout the night. The much bigger Milton has electric controls, but Frankel is entirely mechanical and hand-operated and is little more than six feet in length. The “Frankel and Milton Go Head To Head” challenge could even involve celebrity riders and more details will be given later.
