College scores with Team 19 football
The College of West Anglia at King’s Lynn has launches Team 19 with ten teams.
Team19 is England Colleges FA’s new participation game aimed at under 19s a new version of 5-a-side football where students can play for fun and sessions are run and managed by students management teams.
The Team Nineteen roadshow made a seventh appearance since it launched in November 2013, with College of West Anglia the latest recipient.
The event, organised by College Sport Maker Sara Edwards, was used as a launch tournament at the college which saw ten teams involved and an additional one from Peterborough Regional College, who came to experience the showcase event.
Peterborough Regional College’s College Sport Maker, Chris Bryden, has been delivering Just Play sessions for his students and hopes that the experience of attending the event at a local college will help drive regular Team 19 tournaments in the new academic year.
A particularly vibrant and exciting atmosphere was apparent on campus, as a team of female leaders supported the Team 19 roadshow challenges, took control of the music for the day and interacted and engaged with peers to get them involved in the various activity throughout.
The College’s Media Department were capturing footage and offering students the opportunity to go in front of the cameras in an interview setting, speaking about their experience of the Team Nineteen festival, which will be put in to a promotional video.
The Team Nineteen roadshow has now engaged with 853 participants and leaders over seven events, helped three colleges launch Team Nineteen and resulted in 12 new colleges signing up to the programme.
The next stop is Warrington College for a North West event and there is already great demand for 2014/15.
