College students clock up the miles for Police Benevolent Fund
Uniformed and public services students from our Wisbech campus have held a triathlon event in support of the Police Benevolent Fund.
The event, which took place on Tuesday 15 December 2015 at the Hudson Centre (New Vision Fitness) in Wisbech, consisted of a 22 mile swim, followed by a run equivalent to the distance from London to Dover and finally a cycle ride of the equivalent distance from Calais to Paris.
The event was supported by the uniformed services staff from the college and Police Sergeant Caroline Scully from Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
This is the third consecutive year that CWA has held this event and each year students support a different public services charity. The nature of the event is both challenging and rewarding for the learners and, as well as being a charitable event, it is a great way to let off steam as the term draws to a close for Christmas break.
Lee Mallott, programme manager for uniformed and public services at CWA, said: "It was a pleasure to take part and witness so many learners getting stuck in to such a challenging event. There was a great deal of camaraderie shown by the learners and that is what - as both a college and a profession - we are all about."
Mr Mallott would like to thank both his staff, the local Police and The Hudson Centre for supporting and making the event a success.
So far £280 has been collected in from students as sponsorship, but there is a lot more money still to come in.
