On Monday, 14th October, full-time engineering students from the College of West Anglia (CWA) had the exciting opportunity to participate in an insightful and engaging factory tour at TVS Interfleet in Wisbech. Despite their busy production schedules, TVS Interfleet welcomed the students , offering them a rare glimpse into the real-world applications of the engineering principles they’ve been studying.
The visit allowed students to see firsthand how cutting-edge engineering technologies and practices are applied in the workplace, from design through to manufacturing. Expert talks from TVS engineers added further depth to the experience, covering topics like innovation, sustainability and the challenges facing the modern engineering sector. These discussions sparked curiosity and broadened the students’ understanding of the dynamic and evolving field they are preparing to enter.
‘Beyond the technical insights, the day was a fantastic opportunity for the students to engage with professionals, ask questions and start thinking about their future careers. It also strengthened the relationship between CWA and TVS Interfleet, fostering a partnership that continues to bridge the gap between education and industry. This enriching experience not only deepened the students’ appreciation for their chosen field, but also highlighted the importance of industry connections in shaping the future workforce.’ - Darren Freeman, Engineering Lecturer - Welding and Fabrication.
