College of West Anglia (CWA) sports students, Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk (BCKLWN) Mayor Harry Humphrey and staff from both CWA and Alive West Norfolk (AWN) came together to celebrate the CWA Sports Campus’ 10th year at the leisure centre.

CWA’S Sports Campus moved to Alive Lynnsport in 2011 and since then over 1,750 students have completed sport-related courses at the campus.

Scott Leadley, CWA Programme Manager of Sport and Public Protective Services, said:

‘We are delighted to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the Sports Campus at Alive Lynnsport. We have strong ties to Alive and we are able to offer our students both a modern and well-equipped teaching and learning environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities combined with a space they can utilise for the more practical elements of their study.’

Tommy Good, Head of Performance and Development at Alive West Norfolk, said:

Over the last ten years, we are proud to have developed a strong working relationship with CWA, creating a unique experience for students by developing a Sports Campus in a live working environment, giving students first-hand insight to the sport and leisure industry.  We have been fortunate to benefit from a number of CWA alumni progressing on to employment with us. We look forward to continuing to nurture this relationship over the years to come and welcome many more sports students to Alive Lynnsport to use our state-of-the-art facilities.”

CWA’s Sports Campus offers courses in wide range of areas, from sports science to coaching and fitness and apprenticeships, with many of its alumni going on to further study at university, as well as pursuing careers in personal training and fitness, coaching and leadership and leisure centre assistants and managers. It is also home to football, netball and basketball youth academies, offering year-long programmes in addition to academic study.
