Hair and Beauty students from the College of West Anglia (CWA) showcased their talent and creativity at the prestigious Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) National Competition, held in Blackpool on Sunday and Monday last week.
The event brought together students from across the country to compete in a range of categories, highlighting the best emerging talent in the hair and beauty industry.
CWA Students achieved outstanding results on the national stage:
Chelsi Hudson took 1st place in Long Hair Styling
Kiya Walker achieved 3rd place in Fantasy Make-Up
Lorna Coote was awarded 4th place in Upper Torso Body Paint
These impressive results reflect the hard work, creativity and dedication of both the students and their tutors.
Samantha Hall, Lecturer in Hair and Beauty at CWA said ‘We are incredibly proud of the students and all they’ve achieved this weekend. I really hope this opportunity will inspire more students to compete!’
Chelsi Hudson, who won first place in Long Hair Styling said ‘ I really enjoyed doing the competition, going to Blackpool was a great opportunity and experience, being able to compete against other amazing hairdressers from all over the UK . The thing I most enjoyed seeing all the different talents from hair to makeup and winning 1st place was an outstanding achievement for me.’
When asked if she had any advice to students thinking about entering next year, Chelsi said ‘If I could give any tips, it would be to use your imagination, think outside of the box, and create something that will stand out and wow the judges.’
