CWA Students Show Pictures at the Pictures

Art & Design students from CWA's Isle campus are exhibiting their work at The Light Cinema on New Bridge Lane in Wisbech.
Titled ‘Story Time’, the exhibition of artwork is based on books, film and folklore as part of their inspiring creative futures project.
Each student researched and developed ideas in response to a chosen book, film, story, folklore or nursery rhyme and the results are intriguing as they are diverse.
Interpretations include Alice in Wonderland, Lord of the Rings, War Horse, Kite Runner, My Friend Totoro, The Grim Reaper, Humpty Dumpty are transposed into a rich tapestry of sculpture, ceramics, painting and mixed media.
Marketing Coordinator for The Light, Emma McGuire said “We love to get involved with the local community and giving the students an opportunity to showcase their work, is also a great way to give our customers a more local and personal experience”.
One of the young artists is Chloe Andrews, 19 from Wisbech whose two paintings are based on the novel ‘The Kite Runner’ by Khaled Hosseini. Speaking at the exhibition opening, she said “I studied The Kite Runner for A-Level English and wanted to illustrate the story in a style inspired by the artist John Keane”.
The exhibition is open for public viewing lunchtimes till late, on Wednesday 4th to Monday 9th March on the 1st floor gallery Café Lounge.
The exhibition will then move to the Wisbech Museum for display from 12th to 23rd March.
