A team of four equine students from the college’s Cambridge campus took first place at an inter-college regional competition.
The day-long competition was held at Shuttleworth college, Bedford and saw the college team compete against four other teams from the region to take first place overall.
The first phase of the competition began with dressage, which Tate Frost took second place in and Victoria Gedny competed in the novice dressage section. Afterwards, the team’s knowledge was tested during a quiz, which the college team won.
Going into the final show jumping stage of the competition, the team were in second place overall. The show jumping was judged on style as well as execution. Grace Mallows jumped one of only two clear rounds that day in the 75 cm show jumping, while Ella Wilson placed 5th individually in the 85 cm show jumping.
The final show jumping stage nudged the college team from second to first place overall and they were announced as overall winners on the day.
Programme manager of equine studies, Emma Pewter, said:
“I am delighted with the success of the team today upholding their 100% success rate at Inter-College riding competitions this year.
I am really looking forwards to further developing the riding team next year and hope to be putting on our own Inter-College competition at the college.”
