Faculty defies the weather for careers event
The Faculty of Sport, Public and Caring Services at the College of West Anglia had to stand up to continuous rain but still managed to hold a successful careers event indoors and outside the Tower Block.
Head of Faculty Andrew Gedge said the event saw employers and guests given the opportunity to engage with students on a number of levels.
The grassed area outside the Tower Block became a base for numerous emergency services as well as games and activities to attract students’ attention.
Employers undertook presentations where they discussed the latest expectations of skills and attributes from an employers’ perspective in their areas.
Employers also carried out mock interviews of learners and a Careers Fair across all of the disciplines on offer.
Andrew said: “It was a thoroughly rewarding event and we really valued the support from our strong network of employers.”
He thanked the many services and organisations which took part.
These included Norfolk Police Service; Norfolk Fire Service; Paramedic Service; RAF Reserve Regiment; Lynnsport; Tydd St Giles Health and Fitness Centre; Ian Brown Physiotherapy; British Colleges Sport; English Colleges FA; KES Schools Sport Partnership; Kings Lynn Community Football; CWA Fury Basketball; English RFU; Lawn Tennis Association; The Matthew Project ; Zest Care Homes, Swaffham and Beupre and Emneth Children's Centre.
