The motorsports team at the Isle campus of the College of West Anglia have again turned in terrific performances at Brands Hatch. It had teams involving students and staff and turned in podium-quality outings in both the Formula Ford and Mini Cooper races.
The visit to Brands was to take part in two differing race series, the MSVRChampion of Brands (Formula Ford) and the Mini Challenge. It was a somewhat wet, cold and windy weekend during the mini festival and the Isle teams were presented with a few mechanical problems on both the Formula Ford and Mini Cooper cars which they were successfully able to overcome.
The Formula Ford was driven by Richard Tarling in the Champion of Brands, a single race of the weekend for which Isle qualified 5

The Mini Cooper (a hire car as Isle’s engine is not quite completed) was driven by Josh Gollin who qualified 6
th in race 1 and finished 4
th, 6
th, 4

rd in races 1 to 4 respectively…another podium finish!
Lecturer JP Latham said: “I am VERY proud of the work we are doing in the motorsport department and the effort of the student team members!
“It makes the horrible weather, cold nights and midnight arrival back at college worth it!”
