Green-Fingered Students Bloom
Pathway Project students at the King’s Lynn campus have been getting green-fingered as part of their qualification.
Created for young adults, Pathway Project is designed to bridge the gap between college an employment, by developing work-based skills within a number or practical areas. The course runs in partnership with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and offers practical rotations in housekeeping, medical records and patient catering.
Six Pathway Projects have recently braved the cold to spruce up the gardens at the hospital’s Macmillan Centre by planting daffodil and tulip bulbs, which will bloom in the spring to create a colourful display for visitors. Downham Home and Garden Centre generously donated the 400 flower bulbs.
Job and learning coach Leanna Lowe said: “It’s put a lot of smiles on our student’s faces. They have really enjoyed the project and it has generated a lot of attention; passers-by have often stopped and commented on how nice it is to see the young generation planting the bulbs”.
