Honour for our sports campus
CWA Sports Campus nominated for British Colleges Sport College of the Year for 2014
After a tremendous 2012-13 year with the best academic results and sports performances The College of West Anglia had ever seen in the sports department based at the CWA Sports Campus (Lynnsport) knew the 2013-14 year was going to be a tough act to follow.
But academic performance is set to surpass lasts year’s results and 2013-14 has seen more students take part in sport and physical activity than ever before showing sport at The College of West Anglia is thriving.
The great work being done at CWA Sports Campus has been recognised nationally by British Colleges Sport who have put CWA Sport Campus on their final short list for the College of the Year Award for 2014.
The winner will be announced at a dinner at St Georges Park later this month.
British Colleges Sport is a national organisation representing the sporting interests of students and Further Education Colleges across the UK. The College of the Year Award recognises the work colleges have done to develop sport locally, regionally and nationally and the work with partners to promote sport.
The nomination follows on the back of the college achieving status as an England Basketball School of Basketball earlier this year and other national awards including the RFU Presidents XV College of the Year in 2013 and the LTA College of the Year in 2012
Programme Manager for Sport Tommy Goode said ‘I’m really proud the college have been recognised for all the hard work it has done in developing sport.
“The College of the Year award for sport is a prestigious award and we are delighted to be shortlisted among some outstanding sports colleges from all the colleges in the UK. Staff and students at CWA Sports Campus can be really proud of the hard work they put in to make sure the campus is thriving and a great place to study sport’.
